Two of my favorite bloggers (Tara Sophia Mohr and Kimberly Wilson) recently commented on the Girl Effect. Couldn't help but watch the videos and reflect myself. As a mommy-to-be and high school teacher I often think about how blessed I am to have access to such great education and opportunities here in the United States. Yes, I know our government, education system, and people are not perfect. However, the pros sure do out weigh the cons. Too bad we often see the negative side of things on TV and in the news. If we really take a step back, I think we would agree that WE REALLY ARE so blessed. There are 1000s of people working hard each and every day to ensure we have clean water, affordable and accessible food, access too good education, and safe neighborhoods. I would much rather give thanks than complain about the minor imperfections. The Girl Effect videos and project are yet another reminder of how lucky we are. It is so warming to know there are people out there working hard to help others all over the world who aren't as fortunate as we are. Thank you to Tara and Kimberly for sharing this with us... I believe each on of us can a make a difference. Change starts with right here with me. Be the change you wish to see in the world.
