David Swenson - Ashtanga Yoga
tonight i was called on to teach 1 round of Sun Salutation B to our class. my heart was pounding so hard at first. as we began to practice, i remembered to let my breath take over and some how the words flowed right out. yoga is teaching me who i am, who i want to be, and how my body works. it is a wonderful reminder to us all: we are perfect just the way we are right now :) and that is how i felt as i was teaching Sun Salutation B. i may have missed a couple of words, but deep down i know i gave my best effort and am proud of all of the studying and practice i have done.
i had never even heard of Ashtanga Yoga until about 7 weeks ago. since then, it is has found a dear place in my heart. Short Form Ashtanga (SFA) is such an invigorating and special practice. my heart is opening, my brain is moving, and i still have so much to learn. the past 5 weeks of Yoga Life Style/Teacher Training at Red Lotus Yoga in Rochester Hills, MI have been absolutely fantastic. i am truly enjoying the journey, challenges, successes, and knowledge. the people are honest, real, and becoming like a family to me.
i am sad that i will have to end teacher training on june 16, but my heart tells me i need to take the summer off to travel, relax, rejuvenate, and spend time with my husband. i am confident i will start the training program up again on september 14 and continue this journey :)
there are many yoga studios in the metro-detroit area... i highly suggest checking them out. usually the 1st week is free :) many city recreation centers and gyms (like life time and LA fitness) also offer yoga classes.
there is no right or wrong class, just one that you enjoy.
here are some of the books i have been studying.
enjoy! peace, love, and namaste.

spring = :D
i am a little late with this post. spring = so much to do :) here is 1 of my pages in my art journal. i try to art journal once a week. some journal entries are just a bunch of ideas and words, while others include magazine collaging. this has been a great way for me to jot some of my current inspirations, dreams, and accomplishments. i highly recommend taking an hour out of your week to get your creative juices flowing in an art journal.
these ideas have been inspired by the following blogs, podcasts, sites.
i have lived in michigan my entire life. i sometimes get an itch to relocate elsewhere. not quite sure what triggers this itch...curiosity? age? boredom? deep down i am confident the courage i will need to move away will also bring me back to the mitten in the long run . these peninsulas offer endless nooks and crannies to explore. your jaw will drop at first sight of a crisp fresh lake in our water wonderland.
these images are all fresh in my head as i return from a 4 day camping trip at ludington state park. i highly recommend visiting this park in the spring. i was blessed with the shores of lake michigan all to myself for the last 3 mornings. the wildlife is abundant and the sand is soft. the waves put me in a trance as the wind added a little rosiness to my cheeks.
these pictures and feelings = pure michigan enjoy :)
